As a member of AWA Vienna, you are connected through your automatic membership in the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO) to a global network of active, intelligent and creative women. AWA Vienna was one of nine clubs that founded FAWCO in 1931 as a support network for American women living abroad.
FAWCO connects clubs and members around the world who share an international outlook. Through annual international and regional meetings, online workshops, and global issue teams, FAWCO creates opportunities to exchange ideas, build friendships and learn from women across many countries.
FAWCO is a United Nations accredited non-governmental organization with special consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council. Through this status, FAWCO contributes to international discussions and advocacy on issues affecting women and girls.
FAWCO’s Target Projects bring members together to fundraise, raise awareness, and support a single, high-impact initiative aimed at empowering women and girls in the four core areas of environment, human rights, education and health.
FAWCO’s Development Grants help support clubs’ philanthropic work.
Education Awards provide funding for FAWCO members and their families.
The FAWCO Youth Program promotes cultural understanding and community engagement among young people, helping them grow into thoughtful global citizens.
FAWCO’s online magazine Inspiring Women highlights members who use their talents to make a difference in communities around the world. Published quarterly, it features profiles and interviews with women from member clubs. AWA Vienna members have shared inspiring stories more than a dozen times since the magazine launched in 2017.
